THE BOHICAS

The Bohicas Domino/EMI

Blunt - - In Review -

Since premiering their debut double A-side XXX/Swarm last year, the buzz around young UK rockers The Bohicas has been as loud as their guitars, with a slot on the NME Radar Tour 2013 and shows in Australia and Japan following. This self-titled EP features the aforementioned “XXX” and “Swarm”, but first up is “Crush Me”, a building glam rock number featuring beefy guitars and lyrics about spuds. The wailing guitars and sleazy rhythm of “XXX” still excite, while the driving “Bloodhound” takes the title of biggest chorus so far. The relentless guitars and cowbell mid section of closer “Swarm” both bring to mind QOTSA’s “Little Sister”, not a bad benchmark to aim for for any new band. Variety isn’t exactly on offer here, but like DZ Deathrays or Deap Vally, they’re young, brash and in your face, in the best way possible.
