SAINTS ALIGHT

Perceptions Independent

Blunt - - In Review -

If there was ever any doubt that UNFD have become the tastemaker for young Australian heavy acts, then a cursory listen to Brisbane outfit Saints Alight would quickly answer any questions you may have, with Perceptions sounding like a patchwork version of genre frontrunners like Northlane and In Hearts Wake. As always the recording is crisp and the performances competent, neither of which is much of a feat these days when you consider how easily these types of digitalised sounds can be manipulated in the studio. Scott Willis and Damon Koolstra make for a solid vocal combination, but there are so few fresh ideas on offer that it’s hard to get excited. It’ll be interesting to hear where these kids sit in another 12 months when the genre’s trends have inevitably shifted again.
