I, THE BREATHER

Blunt - - In Review - CAMERON CHAMBERS

There’s always been something a little more interesting about I, The Breather, not a huge point of difference, but enough that they’ve avoided the cliché trappings that have plagued a number of other Warped Tour combatants. Undergoing a rather significant personnel shuffle in 2013 has only improved the band’s already impressive sense of musicality, as the Baltimore- based outfit deliver a fiery amalgamation of August Burns Redstyled shred and mosh, along with the rugged, melodic sensibilities of Sights And Sounds. “Soul: Seek” is one of the more rapidfire offerings from the group, while the unconventional chorus of “Self: Restore” stands out as one of the disc’s true highlights. Things get a little same- y towards the end, however the more dynamic elements of “Shape: Shifter” show that the band is capable of operating at a different level when pushed.
