GETTING TO KNOW

Blunt - - Up Front -

I discovered music when…

I was really young. My brother Randy ( guitar, backing vocals) and I have been playing music since we were five or six years old, so my first memory is us just messing around with acoustic guitars.

I realised being in a band was the best way to waste time…

As soon as I watched the movie La Bamba.

My first band was…

Called Dishonest and I was the

RONNIE WINTER OF THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS

drummer and Randy was on lead vocals. It was a Christian metal band and we had some great times.

The first show I ever played was…

At our local community centre in Middleburg, Florida. It was packed and we knew right then we could do this thing for real if we kept at it long enough.

The worst job I’ve ever had is…

Working as a dishwasher at TGI Fridays for a while. That was pretty bad. Long hours, little pay and constantly smelling like rotting food took its tole so I chose another career path.

My favourite band is…

The Beach Boys. I love them and I always will.

One album I play before I hit the stage is…

I usually don't listen to music before a show. I do a quick vocal warm up and stretch then hit the stage.

I love being on stage because…

Watching people sing the words back is my favourite part of playing live. If people are having fun and moving around then we have a lot more fun as well.

My favourite tour memory is…

Every tour creates new memories and we are not planning on stopping anytime soon so I’ll have to get back to you on that one later [ laughs].

The worst thing about touring is…

Putting your life on hold. Family and friends are greatly missed every time we hit the road. My brother and my girlfriend Angela both tour and perform with me so that helps a lot with missing home.

My favourite servo/ gas stop purchase is…

Usually a diet Coke and a Blu e- cig. Maybe some Doritos as well.

On the road I can’t live without…

My iPhone and iPad. They’re my most valued physical possessions when on tour. I am Apple for life!

My favourite place in the world is…

The Philippines. It’s really special to us as people and as a band. Angela’s family is from there so it’s like a home away from home when we tour there, and the shows are always insane.

If I could, I would trade lives with…

I truly wouldn’t trade places with anyone. I love my life; I have been blessed and am grateful for every day that God grants me on this planet.
