SurroundingS

Blunt - - Up Front -

Where are you from?

Perth, Australia.

Who is in your band?

Leigh Kendell ( guitar); Alex Handley ( bass); Drew Kendell ( guitar); Joel Burton

( drums); Nick Roberts ( vocals).

Who are some of your influences?

Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Alexisonfire, Architects... As a band, For The Fallen Dreams, Confession, Volumes, then a lot of post- rock like Foals, Tycho,

and The American Dollar. Where can we normally find

you playing? Amplifier Bar, The Rosemount or

Leederville HQ.

Tell us about your best show. Possibly our two recent shows: Mates & Yarns and another supporting Dream On Dreamer. At both shows the crowd response was awesome and there was just

generally a great atmosphere.

Tell us about your worst show. We just finished our first semi- national tour. There were some strange shows but one of the Sydney shows we played was really odd. When we rocked up, there were families sitting down eating parmies and a skimpy waitress cruising about. The TAB was viewable from the stage and the whole setup didn’t instill much confidence. Once the sound guy and other bands rocked up it turned out to be okay but by the time we were due on, the bar staff had packed up and there were only a few people from the other bands that actually stayed

to watch us.

Tell us your three favourite bands. I’ll give you some more: Queens Of The Stone Age, The Black Dahlia Murder, and

Deftones.

Tell us about your latest release.

Of Bane, Burden & Change, our debut album. It’s a concept derived from my own life experience that just took place over the last two years or so. It’s out now on

Highland Records via Firestarter.

Slayer or Metallica?

Eagles.
