Why fund our rivals?

Broome Advertiser - - Opinion - David Margitich, Broome

The Australian Government is to fund, via a World Bank loan, the creation of tourism infrastructure for 10 new “Balis”.

That is, the Australian government will fund Broome’s tourism competitor. The amount of money given by the Australian Government is not known but I would like to know the amount and terms of the loan.

Why are they doing this when Broome needs infrastructure to attract tourism dollars?

The Indonesian government must be laughing all the way to the bank.

It is enough that high airfares deter tourism, but it is insulting the Government will encourage more Australians to fly over Broome on their way to more “Balis”. I am struggling with a printable word — dysfunctional seems to describe it too nicely.
