Single-vehicle crash claims life
The unsealed section of the Broome to Cape Leveque road claimed another life over the weekend.
Major Crash officers are investigating a single-vehicle accident about 1.20pm on Saturday, October 14, 20km north of the Manari Road intersection.
Police said a Toyota Prado travelling north drifted to the other side of the road and into an embankment on the eastern side of the road.
The vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its side.
The 31-year-old driver from Broome died at the scene. The four passengers, a 33-year-old man and women aged 23, 25 and 35, were treated for minor lacerations and shock.
In June, a man died after his fourwheel drive rolled on an unsealed section of the same road, about 10km north of Manari Road.
Main Roads is expected to start bituminising the remaining unsealed 90km section of the 200km-long road next year as part of a staged process of works expected to take about three years.
Anyone with information about the accidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
