Lifeguards back on beautiful Cable Beach
Lifeguard patrols on world-famous Cable Beach are underway and will continue throughout the dry season. Lifeguards will be stationed between the swimming area flags between 9am and 4.30pm until Sunday 28 October. Shire of Broome Manager Sport and Recreation, Casey Zepnick, says Surf Life Saving WA is again contracted by the Shire to manage the lifeguard service. “Recognised as one of the world’s great beaches, Cable Beach is a huge drawcard for Broome every dry season and professional lifeguards went back on duty from Good Friday to keep locals and tourists safe,” Mr Zepnick says. Broome Surf Life Saving Club volunteers will assist the professional lifeguards between May and October by running patrols on Sundays from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
