Australia’s finest to take Broome

Broome Advertiser - - Happenings - Carly Laden

Broome will be hit with another dose of Comedy Gold, when some of Australia’s finest stand-up comedians come together to perform at the Broome Civic Centre on April 14.

For one night only, the 1.5-hour show is set to be jam-packed full of laughs with edgy content.

This year’s feature act will be one of Australia’s premier comedy stars — The Bogan with a Mullet, Chris Franklin.

The Sydney-born comedian is an “Aussie bloke, a yobbo or a bogan, from his flannelette shirt to his double-plugger thongs”.

Franklin’s “Hoganesque” comedy style appeals to every Australian and touches on the delicate issues of beer, sport and relationships — including a number one hit single entitled Bloke.

MC for the evening will be the boisterous Big Al, one of Australia’s most popular and adored comedians.

With his rapid-fire delivery and unforgettable booming laugh, Big Al is a character many people meet and never forget.

Other performers for the night include indigenous comedian Josh Warrior — a ladies’ man with a twist — and Granny Flaps — a comedic character by Adelaide-based comedian Lori Bell.

Warrior gives his audiences an honest, but very entertaining take on what it’s like growing up and living black, breaking apart some stereotypes but cheerfully reinforcing others.

Granny Flaps is a ukelele-toting grandmother who takes audiences on a side-splitting journey through her life.

Tickets for Comedy Gold are available from the Broome Civic Centre website.
