American Airlines eyes November Los Angeles-Beijing flights

Business Traveller (Asia-Pacific) - - UPFRONT -

AMERICAN Airlines’ long-awaited Los Angeles-Beijing route may be getting a November launch date.

The US carrier submitted a filing to the US Department of Transportation (DoT) last month with November 5 as the suggested launch date.

The proposed schedule would see flights depart Los Angeles at 1110, arriving the following afternoon in Beijing at 1620. The return leg would fly out of Beijing at 1830 and arrive the same day in Los Angeles at 1515.

American Airlines originally announced its intention to launch the route back in March 2016, but has encountered difficulties in securing the necessary slots. Rival US carrier Delta Air Lines has also expressed an interest in the route, having previously submitted its own filing with the DoT to launch the service if American Airlines is unable to do so.
