Uber significantly cheaper than taxis in most major cities
A STUDY of ground transport costs in 85 major international cities, undertaken by New Zealand-based Go Rentals, found that “Uber is significantly cheaper than taxis in most cities around the world”. A cab from the airport to the city centre will cost you 86 per cent more in Auckland, for instance, and 30 per cent more in Hong Kong.
There are exceptions, however, with taxis found to be cheaper in Milan, Rome, Dublin and Helsinki.
The ride-sharing app has been having mixed success of late, recently being told its London licence will not be renewed, but conversely getting wider accreditation throughout Australia. uber.com; explore.gorentals.co.nz
