AKYRA SUKHUMVIT BANGKOK Opened in May on Sukhumvit Soi 20, this 46-room ho­tel is com­mit­ted to no sin­gle-use plas­tic in its rooms or F&B out­lets. In­stead, biodegrad­able bin bags and glass bot­tles are used, reusable shop­ping bags are avail­able, and guests are given stain­less-steel wa­ter bot­tles on ar­rival with self-ser­vice drink­ing wa­ter sta­tions on ev­ery floor. The ho­tel un­veiled its new look in April fol­low­ing a mul­ti­mil­lion-dol­lar facelift. The most no­table change is in the lobby, where the front desk, restau­rant, bar, lounge and busi­ness cen­tre are com­bined into a sin­gle space. All-day-din­ing restau­rant Ginger and the 1920s-in­spired bar Beer Repub­lic have also been re­freshed. The 379 gue­strooms also fea­ture a new “na­ture-in­spired” de­sign.
