TRAV­EL­LING across the border be­tween Hong Kong and the Chi­nese main­land is now quicker with the open­ing of Hong Kong’s first high­speed train, the Guangzhou-Shen­zhen-Hong Kong Ex­press Rail Link. The new ser­vice means trav­ellers can now get be­tween Hong Kong and Guangzhou in about 45 min­utes, with jour­neys on­ward to Bei­jing now pos­si­ble in just nine hours – a size­able drop from the pre­vi­ous jour­ney time of more than 24 hours.
