40,000 set to hit Elmore

-

A MASSIVE crowd of up to 40,000 is expected to pour through the gates at next week’s Elmore Field Days.

The event, now in its 53rd year, runs from Tuesday to Thursday — and there is plenty more than just the latest and greatest in farming on offer.

This year the Field Days will play host to a range of big name guest speakers, including former AFL footballer and Bali bombing victim Jason McCartney and legendary detective Ron Iddles.

There will also be several speakers from beyondblue, with the event coinciding with Mental Health Week.

Other major drawcards include the Ag Art Wear Competition, with designers battling each other to create the best garment made from materials found on the farm or land, the in-paddock demonstrations and the Taste More Food and Wine Pavilion.

There will be around 700 sites and 750 exhibitors at next week’s event, with a team of several hundred volunteers working around the clock to ensure everything passes without a hitch.

Held at the Elmore Events Centre — 48 Rosaia Rd, Elmore — tickets are $18 for adults, $8 for secondary students and free for children under 12.

Gates are open from 8.30am to 5.30pm each day.

As with all Field Days events, proceeds from this year will be donated back into the community.
