Mar­ket down for a fun day

AN ART ex­hi­bi­tion and mar­ket day is on in Lock­ing­ton on Sun­day.

The town’s preschool is host­ing the event be­tween 10am and 2pm at its home on Burns St, and ad­vi­sory com­mit­tee mem­ber An­dria Coon­erty said she could not wait for the day to ar­rive.

‘‘The day is one of our main fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties to en­able us to fur­ther de­velop our out­door play ar­eas and learn­ing spa­ces at the preschool,’’ she said.

‘‘It will be a col­lec­tion of our 3- and 4-yearold groups’ art work, with stu­dents in­di­vid­ual can­vases avail­able to pur­chase as well as a silent auc­tion be­ing held for group can­vases done by the 3- and 4-year-old groups.’’

A se­lec­tion of mar­ket stalls from lo­cal small busi­nesses will be set up show­cas­ing metal sculp­tures, chil­dren’s cloth­ing and soft fur­nish­ings, jew­ellery, bis­cuits, home deco and plenty more.

There will also be fun ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing a jump­ing cas­tle, uncaged spirit cir­cus school, Jam Events over­sized games, sausage siz­zle and cof­fee.

The first 70 chil­dren through the gates will re­ceive a goodie bag in­clud­ing mer­chan­dise do­nated by the El­more/Lock­ing­ton/Rochester Com­mu­nity Bank, as well as vouch­ers for lunch and a cup­cake ac­tiv­ity.
