New role is a big waste
CAMPASPE Shire has nominated councillor Leigh Wilson to stand on the board of the Goulburn Valley Waste and Resource Recovery Group.
The former mayor was formally selected the shire’s recent council meeting.
He was also nominated to act as a representative at the Goulburn Valley Local Government Waste Forum.
Whilst he was nominated for both the board and the forum, if elected to the board, Cr Wilson will withdraw from the forum.
Campaspe Shire waste environment co-ordinator Brian Holmes was nominated as an advisory member to the forum
Mr Holmes has many years’ experience in waste management and resource recovery through his role at council.
The GVWRRG is a statutory authority, established in 2014 to support waste management in the Goulburn Valley Region.
Other members of the GVWRRG are Greater Shepparton City Council, Moira Shire Council, Mitchell Shire Council, Murrindindi Shire Council and Strathbogie Shire Council.
Local Government Waste Forums are advisory bodies established under the Environmental Protection Act.
