New role is a big waste

CAMPASPE Shire has nom­i­nated coun­cil­lor Leigh Wil­son to stand on the board of the Goul­burn Val­ley Waste and Re­source Re­cov­ery Group.

The for­mer mayor was for­mally se­lected the shire’s re­cent coun­cil meet­ing.

He was also nom­i­nated to act as a rep­re­sen­ta­tive at the Goul­burn Val­ley Lo­cal Govern­ment Waste Fo­rum.

Whilst he was nom­i­nated for both the board and the fo­rum, if elected to the board, Cr Wil­son will with­draw from the fo­rum.

Campaspe Shire waste en­vi­ron­ment co-or­di­na­tor Brian Holmes was nom­i­nated as an ad­vi­sory mem­ber to the fo­rum

Mr Holmes has many years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in waste man­age­ment and re­source re­cov­ery through his role at coun­cil.

The GVWRRG is a statu­tory au­thor­ity, es­tab­lished in 2014 to sup­port waste man­age­ment in the Goul­burn Val­ley Re­gion.

Other mem­bers of the GVWRRG are Greater Shep­par­ton City Coun­cil, Moira Shire Coun­cil, Mitchell Shire Coun­cil, Mur­rindindi Shire Coun­cil and Strath­bo­gie Shire Coun­cil.

Lo­cal Govern­ment Waste Fo­rums are ad­vi­sory bod­ies es­tab­lished un­der the En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion Act.
