Campaspe golf

MONDAY niners the previous week saw Charlie Francis score a win (48-151/2-321/2) from Rod McAsey (49-131/2-351/2).

Dick Henderson had the straightest drive on the ninth and Charlie won the putting (13) on a count back from Rod McAsey.

Florrie Bickley and Shirley McAsey took advantage of the weather to play a game.

Bickley had a wonderful round (50-131/2-361/2), 10 putts, one birdie and one par.

The Wednesday women had a wonderful roll up in numbers.

Bickley was the front runner again (50-131/2-361/2) just ahead of June Major (56-19-37) and Ruth O’Connor (59-19-37). Major won the count back and also the straightest drive on the third.

Bickley once again had the least putts (12) and the rest of the golfers just enjoyed the day.

The women were saddened to note the passing of Judy Davis. Judy had been involved with Campaspe women’s golf for many years as secretary until poor health forced her retirement.

It was lovely weather for the Monday niners last week and the winner for this game was Dick Henderson (55-161/2-381/2) who defeated Russ Major by one stroke (52-121/2-391/2).

Kevin McCormack took the two nearest the pins on the fifth and seventh and Rod McAsey shot the straightest drive on the ninth.

John Oakley and Major battled over the putts (15) which John won on the count back.

McCormack was chuffed to have a birdie on the first, but in his own words ‘‘don’t ask what happened after that’’.

Wednesday women’s saw Florrie Bickley romp home a winner (50-131/2-361/2), while Naida Belot and Carol West battled for runner up (57-141/2-421/2).

West won the count back, the straightest drive on the third and also the putting (14) on a count back from Bickley.

Faye Latter held the winning ticket in our little raffle.
