Campaspe Shire November 26

MORE than 300 disadvantaged children across Campaspe Shire will receive a gift for Christmas this year. All thanks to the Ulysses social motorcycle club and the St Vincent de Paul society. The organisations held their annual toy run on Saturday, November 26, which saw 80 motorbikes collect toys across six towns including Rochester. Ulysses member Rob Hearn said although he was expecting more motorcyclists, he was happy with the result. ‘‘It was a really good day, very successful,’’ he said. ‘‘Last year we got presents for about 300 kids and I think we got more this year. There was a hell of a lot of toys. ‘‘We also raised $800 cash with some raffles during the barbecue at Echuca Workers and Services Club.’’ Disadvantaged parents will be able to collect the toys at St Mary’s parish hall.
