Youth group call
YOUNG people in Campaspe Shire are invited to join the 2017 Youth Advisory Group.
Applications are now open for people aged 12 to 25 interested in having a voice in local government decision making.
‘‘The Youth Advisory Group is part of council’s ongoing commitment to work collaboratively with young people in our community,’’ general manger economic and community services Keith Oberin said.
‘‘The group has been set up to advise council on items relevant to youth in Campaspe Shire, and will have the opportunity to work closely with staff and councillors to add their input into projects and developments over the next 12 months.’’
The establishment of the Youth Advisory Group is a direct result of council’s youth leadership program where students from St Joseph’s College, Echuca identified the need for a youth advisory group within the shire.
Appointments to the group will be for one year, with the group to meet monthly during school terms.
‘‘This is a great opportunity for young people across the shire to develop their leadership and teamwork skills, learn how to be part of a committee, develop an understanding of governance and local government and to make some great friends as well,’’ Mr Oberin said.
Nine positions are available. Application forms can be downloaded from council’s website or by contacting youth engagement officer Scott Thomson on 5481 2200 or email email@example.com
