Big impact from little rumble
IT MAY have only been little, but it put Rochester on the map. The earthquake map that is. Those awake at 11.32pm on Wednesday night may have felt a slight tremor when a 2.7 magnitude quake shook just west of Rochester.
Only lasting a few seconds the quake was measured about 15km below the town by Geoscience Australia.
Residents who live towards Lockington seemed to shake the most quickly taking to Facebook to confirm they weren’t the only ones who had felt it.
Posting on the Lockington community group Facebook page, Tony McMahon queried other members whether it was real.
‘‘Did anyone feel a shudder? The house just shook,’’ he wrote.
A few residents agreed with him, while others were disappointed they had missed it due to being asleep.
No calls were made to the local SES.
