Bal­len­della Red Cross banks on the com­mu­nity

THE Bal­len­della Red Cross had a suc­cess­ful street stall on Fri­day, May 12, sell­ing a de­lec­ta­ble se­lec­tion of baked goods and knit­ted bean­ies in Rochester.

Branch mem­ber Lyn Ky­den said al­though the num­ber of peo­ple out and about shop­ping was qui­eter than ex­pected the stall still man­aged to raise around $1000.

‘‘All the good­ies were ea­gerly pur­chased - the baked items were pop­u­lar but with win­ter nearly here so were the bean­ies,’’ she said.

‘‘We would also like to give many thanks to all of our mem­bers, friends and the com­mu­nity for their won­der­ful con­tri­bu­tions to the huge raf­fle we ran and for which there were three prizes.

‘‘And we gen­uinely value and ap­pre­ci­ate all the sup­port the lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties give to the Aus­tralian Red Cross.

The next Bal­len­della Red Cross meet­ing will be held on the sec­ond Thurs­day in June.
