Meeka makes her TAFE mark
LOCKINGTON’S Meeka Wigg is GOTAFE’S outstanding student of the year in Certificate IV in Agriculture.
GOTAFE’S National Centre for Dairy Education (NCDE), in partnership with Dairy Australia hosted an industry celebration this month at the GV Hotel, Shepparton.
The evening celebrated the successful completion of qualifications by students along with announcing the 2016 Outstanding Student of the Year.
A fourth generation dairy farmer, Meeka said she was shocked to receive the award.
‘‘Studying for the year at TAFE was fun and although very educational it was easy to understand because the educators knew exactly what they were talking about,’’ she said.
‘‘For the future I want to own my own dairy farm.’’
After completing her traineeship in Certificate III in Agriculture Meeka moved to Lockington to work on another farm.
Industry trainer James Goulding said Meeka took time out from training to settle into her new job.
‘‘Meeka returned to GOTAFE to commence training in Certificate IV in Agriculture last year,’’ he said.
‘‘Meeka is a quiet student who has developed into a valuable member of our class who submits her assessments on time and always of a very high standard.
‘‘She has developed her skills and knowledge over time and is always willing to help other students.
‘‘Meeka is a worthy winner of this award and will be an outstanding ambassador to the dairy industry.’’
