Local schools get big digital boost
FOUR state primary schools in the area will have their internet bandwidth doubled thanks to the Victorian budget.
Elmore Primary School, Goornong Primary School, Colbinabbin Primary School and Lockington Consolidated School are just four of 347 rural and regional government schools who will receive the digital upgrade.
The budget included a $16.4 million state-wide investment to improve bandwidth and digital connectivity for these students.
In doubling the bandwidth, the playing field will be levelled for students and teachers outside the major cities, ensuring they aren’t left behind.
State Education Minister James Merlino said the government are making sure all students can access a first-rate digital education regardless of where they live.
‘‘By investing in digital connectivity for rural and regional schools we can ensure our teachers can offer the same standard of digital education as metropolitan schools,’’ he said.
‘‘No student should miss out on learning the skills they will need for the jobs of the future.’’
