The Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment has re­cently re­viewed the map­ping for the Bush re Man­age­ment Over­lay (BMO), and our plan­ning scheme maps have been up­dated to in­clude more prop­er­ties in the over­lay. Th­ese im­por­tant changes are about mak­ing new homes, our com­mu­ni­ties and the en­vi­ron­ment safer and more re­silient to bush re.

The BMO is a plan­ning con­trol ap­plied to prop­er­ties with the po­ten­tial to be af­fected by ex­treme bush res. Plan­ning per­mits may be re­quired for new uses and devel­op­ments in the BMO, in­clud­ing new homes. The map­ping was re­viewed as part of the Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment’s com­mit­ment to im­ple­ment all of the rec­om­men­da­tions of the 2009 Vic­to­rian Bush res Royal Com­mis­sion.

The new map­ping cri­te­ria were de­vel­oped in part­ner­ship with the CFA and CSIRO as part of the Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment’s com­mit­ment to im­ple­ment all rec­om­men­da­tions of the 2009 Vic­to­rian Bush res Royal Com­mis­sion.
