Elmore and Nanneella work to keep one step ahead of ice

Campaspe News - - NEWS -

FOLLOWING successful workshops in Rochester and Lockington, the Melt the Ice workshops are back on again in Elmore and Nanneella.

This will give the people of these towns the chance to talk about ways to reduce the effects of ice and other drugs in a community-neutral manner.

While ice is not yet seen as a massive issue in either town, both want to get ahead of any potential problems.

In Elmore, the Memorial Hall will be hosting the workshop at which the aim is to find positive outcomes and ways of addressing the issues.

‘‘We look to establish a community action team,’’ said Memorial Hall member Jenny Campbell.

‘‘Hopefully, that will allow the community to become proactive about the issues in the region.’’

In Nanneella, the Memorial Hall there will be hosting the workshop and everyone is invited.

President of the Nanneella Memorial Hall, Brett Gledhill said ice is only one issue going around.

‘‘There are multiple issues going around, and we want to be able to give support,’’ he said.

‘‘We want to break down the barriers and cater for all age groups.

‘‘Our ultimate outcome will be knowledge and what can be done into the future.’’

The Elmore workshop is on Wednesday, November 15 from 7pm in the Memorial Hall at 63 Hervey Street and the Nanneella workshop is on Wednesday, November 22 from 7pm in the Memorial Hall on Echuca-Nanneella Road.
