Lawn doubles a hot event for junior players
A TOTAL of 62 enthusiastic players took to the court for the annual Junior Doubles Tennis Tournament at Rochester Lawn.
Players battled the intesne heat, but didn’t allow the temperature to stop great competitive spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Thank you to Simone Palmer and all her helpers for making the day a success and all the parents and friends who supported the players and the day.
The raffle was won by Leanne Trewick of Elmore. A OPEN Charlotte McGillivray and Josh Bavich from Rich River were declared the winners of the A open on 30 games.
Runners-up by countback were Kyabram duo Mitchell Dodos and Will Worsfold on 24 games.
Isabella Crossman and Alexandra Ingram on 24 games took third, Lewis and Spencer Cleary won 18 games to finish fourth, Jacob Haines and Mitchell Collins’ performance of 18 games saw them fifth on a countback, while Kristen Moroney and Blake Humbert took five games to finish sixth. A GRADE Oliver Poole and Riley Godfrey only dropped one set on route to claiming the section, falling to Bridie Baker & Ella Kerlin who totalled 28 games.
Runners up were Alex Parker & Grant Fuller 32 games.
Jack Palmer and Matt Blow 31 games, Sam Trewick and Max Holmberg 25 games, Jude Christou and Natasha Dodos 20 games, Elle Palmer and Sarah Jones 17 games rounded out the section B1 GRADE Winners Reed Hocking and Blake Roulston claimed 24 games in the tournament.
Charlie Palmer and Darby Wileman were named runners up on 23 games, losing the only set to the winners 5-6 on a very close day of tennis.
Coby Cowan and Charlie Peacock 15 games. The teams of Kate Campbell & Stella Martin and Leila Palmer and Tanzin Myers each claimed 10 games. B2 GRADE Tobie Woodfine and Zack Wileman claimed the section with 28 games and dropped one set on the day to Ellie Moroney and Charlie Roulson 25 games.
Chelsea Jones and Milly Haines were named runners up on 26 games.
Bowden Stone and Cooper Mitchell 25 games, Noah Martin and Hugh Kerlin 11 games, Hunter Wileman & Noah O’Sullivan 10 games rounded out the tournament. C GRADE James Brentnall and Nicholas Mitchell were victorious by one game, taking 36 games to win the court over Giselle Crawford and Alannah Weeks 35 games.
Best friends Sadie Martin and Payton Tiller 22 games, Dana and Jude Mussared 22 games, Ruby Wileman and Olivia McInnes 21 games, Jasmine Moroney and Maddy Pearce 20 games rounded out the torunament.
