Ju­nior firies in form ahead of state cham­pi­onships

ROCHESTER Ju­nior Fire Bri­gade claimed 14 medals on the week­end in prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing state cham­pi­onships.

The ju­nior fire­fight­ers com­peted on Satur­day in Kerang where the bri­gade had a fan­tas­tic day and posted strong times through­out.

In to­tal the bri­gade snared 14 medals, two of which were gold and four sil­ver.

More points were put on the board from a fur­ther two third-place fin­ishes, two fourths and a fifth plac­ing.

Broth­ers in arms out on the course, Calvin and Daniel Barkby, com­bined to snag high place fin­ishes as they went on to win the two-per­son Mar­shall event against 12 other teams.

This Satur­day’s ac­tion sees the ju­niors com­pet­ing in Echuca, be­fore head­ing to the state cham­pi­onships in War­rnam­bool the week after.

The state cham­pi­onships will see two days of com­pe­ti­tion against 75 other bri­gades from across Vic­to­ria.
