CAMPASPE Shire has adopted a plan to manage powerlines.

Council adopted the electric line clearance management plan 2017-18, meeting its responsibilities under the Electricity Safety Act 1998, at this month’s meeting.

The purpose of the plan is to lessen the impacts of vegetation on power lines in the declared areas of Echuca, Kyabram and Rochester.

Council is required to develop an electric line clearance management plan and review it annually.

Updating of the plan takes account of any new legislation and is informed by data collected by council’s arborist who conducts an annual audit to identify vegetation that has, or has the potential to, encroach into the clearance space.

A program of vegetation clearing is compiled from the results of the audit and a contractor will be engaged to remove the identified vegetation.
