THIEVES left empty-handed after breaking into Paul Evans Welding during the weekend.

Between noon Saturday and noon Sunday someone gained access to the Lowry St address yet made off with nothing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Rochester police on 5484 1100 or Echuca police on 5483 1500.

Rochester Sergeant Dale Simm is urging locals to report anything suspicious they may see or hear around town after a spate of burglaries.

Sgt Simm is worried locals may not want to call triple zero for fear their information may be nothing but a waste of time.

“We have people working the night shift and so if anyone hears or sees anything suspicious, call triple zero,” he said.

“There have been a few instances where we could have got people we were looking for a lot quicker if we had have known at the time.

“A lot of people are coming in two to three days later with information and we could have used it a lot sooner.”
