Heart starter for sport­ing clubs

SPORT­ING clubs in Cam­paspe will be bet­ter equipped for med­i­cal emer­gen­cies thanks to a de­fib­ril­la­tor and train­ing pack­age from the state gov­ern­ment.

The fol­low­ing clubs were among 300 suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants re­ceiv­ing the pack­age from the lat­est round of the gov­ern­ment’s De­fib­ril­la­tors for Sport­ing Clubs and Fa­cil­i­ties Pro­gram:

■ Rid­ing for Dis­abled As­so­ci­a­tion — Echuca Branch

■ Ba­mawm Lock­ing­ton United Cricket Club

■ Goulburn Val­ley Show Jump­ing Club

■ Rochester and Dis­trict Horse and Pony Club With the pro­gram’s orig­i­nal tar­get of 1000 pack­ages over-sub­scribed, it has been ex­tended to de­liver more than 1300 pack­ages.

The pro­gram en­sures clubs and sports venues are on top of their game when it comes to help­ing play­ers and spec­ta­tors when they need it most.

Clubs get to boost their first aid skills, im­prove plan­ning for med­i­cal emer­gen­cies and en­sure play­ers and spec­ta­tors suf­fer­ing sud­den car­diac ar­rest quickly get help un­til paramedics ar­rive.
