OUR community has banded together once again to support a cause affecting far too many Australians.

To mark the end of Parma for a Farmer month, the Criterion Hotel put on one of its biggest events to raise money for drought-stricken farmers.

The Parma For A Farmer campaign is part of the Australian foundation Buy a Bale. Parma for a Farmer is an initiative engaging with hotels, clubs, restaurants and eateries which have agreed to give $1 for every parma sold.

Throughout the month of August, $1 from every parma sold was donated to the Buy a Bale foundation, which campaigns year round to raise funds to support Australian farmers.

It was a full house on August 31 as diners enjoyed fantastic music from Jammed Up, an auction of donated prizes from many local businesses around town and one final parmigiana for good measure.

Throughout August, The Cri has cooked 375 parmas and raised more than $3500 for the Parma for a Farmer campaign.

The $3500 will be enough to buy 35 large bales of hay.

The Criterion Hotel would like to thank all who bought a parma throughout August. A special mention must go to all the local businesses who supported the cause by donating money or goods for the auction.
