Lucky escape for toddler hit by dad’s reversing vehicle
A CHILD has escaped with minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Thursday.
It is believed the two-year-old boy was hit by a reversing vehicle, driven by his father, at a property on Hopetoun St at about 12.30pm.
He was then airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Rochester police Sergeant Dale Simm said the child had made a full recovery and was now back at home.
“He had no broken bones — just minor abrasions. Which, for an accident of this kind, is a good outcome,” Sgt Simm said.
“As I understand it, the parents were being cautious and told the kids to stand back.’’
Sgt Simm emphasised the need for motorists to be cautious: “It serves as a reminder for drivers to be careful around children.’’
‘‘Make sure kids are at a safe distance and have someone watching the kids.”
