REDHS puts out call for more volunteers
REDHS volunteers Sandra James, Anne Osterlund and John Pallot.
REDHS is conducting ‘‘Voluntober’’, its annual drive to recruit more volunteers during October.
This initiative was introduced in 2016 and REDHS has successfully inducted many new volunteers.
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity for personal growth, or to feel a part of a team.
REDHS volunteer coordinator Paula Grech is excited to have the program running again.
“REDHS is very fortunate in that we have many volunteers across the organisation,” she said.
‘‘The commitment can be as little as an hour a week or as many days as they like, there’s always something to do and it can lift the spirits of the volunteers and residents.
‘‘It would be great to get some younger people on board to add a different aspect here, and it’s really about what you get out of it as well as what you put in.’’
REDHS currently has 72 volunteers who are invaluable, and the activities that occur at REDHS could not get done without their help.
