Chances are, if you own a 4WD, you’ve probably found yourself in a breakdown situation at some point or another. If you’ve been lucky enough to avoid it so far, well, I guess you’ve got something to look forward to then, eh? Yep, breakdowns or equipment failures are just as much a part of camping and 4WDing as burnt snags and a bloody hangover!

To be honest, I’m not just talking about massive mechanical failures out on the tracks here, either. If something major breaks on a modern vehicle, you’ve got to work some serious mojo to get it back on the road without a well equipped workshop and a fully fledged grease monkey at your disposal. While there are definitely exceptions to the rule, you’ll find most modern bush mechanic kits are usually there to fix broken odds and ends around camp. You know, things like a busted awning pole or a broken light seem to be the usual suspects and, believe it or not, it’s the little things that can be the biggest pains in the-youknow-what! The catch is you just never know what’s going to need a spur of the moment fixer-upper out in the field, so you’ve really got to be 100 per cent prepared for anything.

With that in mind, here’s a good guide to the ultimate bush mechanic kit for 4WD adventurers!
