JUST ADD WATER
Back Country Cuisine has cornered the market in civilian freeze-dried meals. These meals are lightweight and take up little room but they do need boiling water to be added to them to be eaten.
With a wide variety of menu options from meals, desserts and additives like mince, supreme porridge, honey soy chicken and so on, they should be the longlife back-up option in almost every toolbox and tackle bag. A four-year shelf life will probably see you through until you think of it again.
Simply rip off the top of the packet – add the amount of boiling water required which varies between meals – stir and voila! These meals can be eaten by themselves on a quick day out, reserved as a survival option or kept in the tuckerbox and mixed with vegies for sharing, using water from the pot of veggies to rehydrate the meat.
