> Sun­down NP is lo­cated 250km south-west of Bris­bane, near Stan­thorpe. En­try is via Bal­lan­dean Sta­tion from the east, which is only ac­ces­si­ble by 4WD. Con­ven­tional cars can en­ter from the west for those wish­ing to walk in and ex­plore the area.

> There are sev­eral camp­grounds within the park, de­pend­ing on how deep you want to ex­plore. Red Rock Gorge camp­ground is lo­cated at the top, while Reedy Wa­ter­hole and Bur­rows Wa­ter­hole are lo­cated deep within the park, be­side the Sev­ern River. Ba­sic pit toi­lets are at Bur­rows Wa­ter­hole and Red Rock Gorge.

> This is a re­mote area so you need to be well pre­pared with camp­ing gear, food and wa­ter. There is no phone re­cep­tion at the camp­grounds.
