Wilson wins prestigious Miles Franklin award
PERTH writer Josephine Wilson won the Miles Franklin Literary Award for her novel Extinctions.
Dr Wilson, of Mosman Park, was congratulated by Curtin University, where she is a sessional academic.
She is the sixth West Australian to win the prestigious literary prize.
Dr Wilson said she felt being nominated and then shortlisted was reward enough, let alone being named the winner.
“Writing can be quite a solitary affair, but the beauty of the Miles Franklin is that it brings together writers, regardless of where they come from, and creates such a great sense of community,” she said.
