Wait lists among the long­est

BENTLEY Hos­pi­tal pa­tients wait the long­est in WA to be as­sessed for surgery, with the me­dian wait time at 181 days for the first half of this year.

The fig­ures were given by Health Min­is­ter Roger Cook in re­sponse to a ques­tion by Dawesville MLA Zak Kirkup. The sec­ond high­est wait time for surgery as­sess­ment was in Esper­ance, clock­ing up 147 days. The an­swer was given in Par­lia­ment in Au­gust and re­lated to the pe­riod be­tween Jan­uary 1 and June 27.

A Depart­ment of Health re­port in Au­gust showed that for the June quar­ter Bentley Hos­pi­tal also had the sec­ond-long­est wait­list for surgery in the metro area, with the me­dian wait time span­ning 63 days - just shy of Rock­ing­ham Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal’s 68 days.
