Wait lists among the longest
BENTLEY Hospital patients wait the longest in WA to be assessed for surgery, with the median wait time at 181 days for the first half of this year.
The figures were given by Health Minister Roger Cook in response to a question by Dawesville MLA Zak Kirkup. The second highest wait time for surgery assessment was in Esperance, clocking up 147 days. The answer was given in Parliament in August and related to the period between January 1 and June 27.
A Department of Health report in August showed that for the June quarter Bentley Hospital also had the second-longest waitlist for surgery in the metro area, with the median wait time spanning 63 days - just shy of Rockingham General Hospital’s 68 days.
