Windfall to support student health
CANNING Vale College says its students are the big winners after it was guaranteed funding in the State Budget.
The Budget allocated $2 million in funding to the school, which plans to use the money to improve student services and sports facilities.
Canning Vale College principal Peter Rudrum said he was “extremely pleased” to receive the funding.
He said the money would be used to construct a purpose-built student services centre to improve student health.
“It will enable us to better meet the wellbeing needs of our students with youth support officers, chaplains and engagement coordinators in the one location,” he said.
Mr Rudrum said the school’s sports facilities would also receive an upgrade.
“We’re installing additional hard courts which will provide more opportunities for students to access sporting programs,” he said.
