No shortage of runs as Willetton posts 322
WILLETTON has carried its brilliant form from round 5 into round 6 with a superb day 1 batting performance on Saturday against Melville, scoring a whopping 322.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Willetton rarely missed a beat to start the innings at Burrendah Reserve 1.
Sitting comfortably at 2-83, D’arcy Short and Aaron Hardie pressed the advantage for the home side, putting on an effervescent 68-run partnership.
After Hardie was dismissed at 3-151, Short continued his rampage with the bat, eventually finishing with 125 from 174, including 18 fours from a whopping 196 minutes at the crease.
Kallen Bond and Will Rhodes continued to frustrate the Melville bowlers once Short was dismissed, scoring 38 and 37 respectively late in the innings.
Melville’s Mark Turner took out the last three wickets, including a terrific run-out, as Willetton finished with a magnificent 322.
Melville will start its run chase on day 2 on Saturday.
