While many older Western Aus­tralians are hap­pily “spend­ing their chil­dren’s in­her­i­tance,” oth­ers are less able to en­joy their money. Sadly, the in­ci­dence of fi­nan­cial elder abuse among vul­ner­a­ble se­niors is rapidly in­creas­ing. Iso­la­tion & de­pen­dence due to frailty or de­men­tia in­creases an el­derly per­son’s risk of los­ing money or as­sets to fam­ily, care­givers or fraud­sters through greed, de­cep­tion, pres­sure or guilt.
