The young Rossmoyne resident could be one of Australia’s future sport stars, but what is less certain is which sport that might be in.

Eleven-year-old Lillian has the Midas touch when it comes to sport, excelling in swimming, netball and Little Athletics.

As well as approaching her 50-game milestone for the Willetton Netball Club, Lillian was recently named ‘most promising female swimmer in their first year’ at the South Shore Swimming Club and holds two records in two age groups as part of Shelley Parkrun.

However, Lillian’s mother Emma said her daughter’s biggest achievement to date was her selection to represent WA in a national cross-country competition in Queensland next month.

“Lillian said she wanted to try out, as it is an excellent opportunity to further her cross-country running – middle to long distance are her favourite events,” she said.

“When she started running she was determined to one day wear the yellow and black tracksuit that the state runners wore.”

Lillian said she had been nervous when she found out she had made the team but was excited for the opportunity to compete.

“I don’t have a chance of placing in the race but I aim to run a personal best time and enjoy the experience,” she said.

“There are so many amazing runners across Australia and it’s a privilege to make the team.

“I am using it as an experience and opportunity to represent my state and hope that this is the start of a long running career.

“I would like to continue with Little Athletics until under-17s and hopefully improve my crosscountry running with competitions like this one.”
