A WILSON-based soccer club is expanding to include its first junior girls team.

With just one team in its inaugural season last year, the Centenary Football Club tasted some early success when they were crowned Metro South Division 3 champions after finishing the season undefeated.

Having expanded this season to include a team in each of the Metro South Premier and Metro South Division 1 competitions, the club is opening its doors to the next generation of stars as it looks to create its first junior girls team.

Head coach Zane Abrahams said they were taking in as many as 18 players and were looking specifically for those born between 2002 and 2006.

“We want expansion due to the huge interest in playing a safe sport and the growth shown from recent successes nationally,” he said. “We are a progressive club with excellent femaleonly facilities and support a family environment within the playing group,” he said.

“Our senior coach has many years experience coaching junior girls and the competition will be in the Football West competition in the relevant age group.”

The club will be holding a try-out session at Centenary Park, Wilson from 5.30pm, July 18.
