KATHERINE Soh and Norman Ng were excited to welcome their third child Leya but had no idea how special she would be.
Born on July 19, Leya was the 10,000th baby born at Fiona Stanley Hospital since it opened in October 2014.
Ms Soh said she was both surprised and amazed to have the milestone baby.
“This is our first child born in Australia, as our older two were born in Singapore, so it’s so special to me,” she said.
“Especially because she is the 10,000th baby born here. I still cannot believe it.
“Leya was 2.75kg, so she was quite small and she was born the day before her due date.”
Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group executive director Janet Zagari said it was an exciting milestone for the midwives and staff at the hospital.
“It shows how busy our staff have been since opening, helping to deliver almost 230 babies a month,” she said.
“It truly is a privilege to be part of so many births in Western Australia.”
Midwife Lucy Mackey welcomes the arrival of Leya Ng with proud parents Norman Ng and Katheryn Soh.
