BIG GAY COUNTRY WEDDING:
Jonathan Duffy (The Doctor’s Wife), and his partner, Dr Vincent Cornelisse, is preparing to make a sequel to his award-winning documentary.
MUNDUBBERITES who appeared in Jonathan Duffy’s award-winning documentary The Doctor’s Wife may have the opportunity to star again.
Mr Duffy and his partner Dr Vincent Cornelisse will return to the town to film the conclusion of The Doctor’s Wife 2: Our Big Gay CountryWedding.
The sequel will be an exploration of marriage equality in Australia through the eyes of an openly gay couple thinking about taking the next step in their relationship.
The aim of the documentary is to present a balanced view of the controversial issue of marriage equality.
Well-known and ordinary people from all walks of life who represent varied views on the issue will be interviewed as the couple returns to their old home and much-loved country town of Mundubbera to have a wedding.
“We believe that this film will show, especially to politicians and legislation makers, that many non-gay Australians are indeed in favour of reforms to the marriage act and equal rights,” Mr Duffy said.
As well as looking at the serious side of the issues faced by gay couples in modern society, the film will contain the same hilarious day-to-day moments that endeared the first film to its audiences.
“Vinny financially and lovingly supports my projects,” Mr Duffy said.
“He is the sometimes reluctant other star of The Doctor’s Wife 2: Our Big Gay Country Wedding and a classically trained pianist.”
The Doctor’s Wife 2: Our Big Gay Country Wedding will start production in late 2012, to be released in 2013.
