90th birthday celebration
NINETY years of supporting women and children was celebrated at the birthday party for the Queensland CountryWomen Association recently.
Last Saturday the Gayndah QCWA branch held a morning tea and fundraiser for the milestone.
President Jan Rawlins told the Central and North Burnett Times the QCWA started in Gayndah in 1923, and will be celebrating its own 90th birthday next year.
The morning tea raised money for the Rotary Lodge in Bundaberg, an accommodation project for rural patients needing to stay in Bundaberg for hospital treatment.
“The ladies have made some things that we are selling, and it’s all donated to the cause,” Mrs Rawlins said.
“If you have to go to hospital you can stay at the lodge.
“It’s far cheaper and it’s a really nice house.”
