TER­RI­ERS played well to de­feat Run Arounds 5-2 in the last round of darts played at the Grand Ho­tel at Biggen­den. In other games, All Sorts d Rug Rats 5-2, The A Team d 4 lay 4-3 and Com­mer­cial Good­ies d One Day 4-3. Most tons for the night went to Peter Keir on a count­back with three (100x2,125) and Janet Wall with two (100,120). Most peg outs were thrown by Dave Maxwell with five (4,38,10,28,50 bull fin­ish) and Co­ral Seng­stock on a count­back with three (40,28,2). High­est score was thrown by Sean McGeough with 140 and there were none thrown by the women. High­est out went to Leo Tat­icek with 85 bull fin­ish and Beth Stralow with 50. SIX­TEEN teams have nom­i­nated for this week­end’s two-day men’s fours carnival at the Biggen­den Bowls Club. Teams from Moore Park, Her­vey Bay, Mary­bor­ough, Gympie and the Cen­tral Bur­nett re­gion will be vy­ing for the $2200 in prize­money.


LAST Satur­day Bin­jour Bowls Club hosted its an­nual Pork Day­with play­ers trav­el­ling from Gayn­dah, Biggen­den, Mary­bor­ough, Bar­gara, Gympie, Kan­danga, Goomeri, Tansey, Ta­room, Mun­dub­bera, Monto and Miriam Vale to com­pete. 16 teams took to the green to com­pete for ham and ba­con trays and en­joyed a pig on the spit with all the trim­mings. The Bar­gara team Rob Alder, Noel Ah­ern, Mark Ram and John See took out the ma­jor prize with three wins plus mar­gins to­talling 43. Run­ners up were Kevin Put­ney, Ash­ley Har­ris, An­drew McLeod and Peter Bennett of Gayn­dah with three wins plus mar­gins to­talling 31. Round 1 went to Ray Horne and his team from Gympie, Round 2 to Garry Price and his team from Monto and Round 3 to Eric Ferris and his team from Miriam Vale.

The Monto teams tried hard but were soundly beaten at the end of the day 79 shots to 51. The pic­ture was a lit­tle dif­fer­ent af­ter 11 ends of each game as Monto was only be­hind by 8 and lead­ing in two rinks. The pos­si­bil­ity of a huge up­set dis­ap­peared how­ever over the re­main­ing ends. The usual coun­try hos­pi­tal­ity pro­vided by Tansey Club was ap­pre­ci­ated by all of the play­ers.
