Rural fire service area commander unsure of unit’s future
UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of the North Burnett Rural Fire Service.
Cuts to funding for firefighting services have been a concern for rural residents after the announcement of the State Government’s budget cuts last month.
And a lack of communication has area commander Adam Gwinn unsure on any restructuring that might occur.

Media advisor for the Minister for Police and Com- munity Safety Danny Donald said there was an ongoing “review of the rural fire service in Queensland”.
He said the results would be made public in February next year.
Mr Donald told the Central and North Burnett Times “there will be no closure of district fire offices”.
“People on the ground and residents won’t see any change in the fire service they receive,” he said.
