‘Itwas a great success’

Organisers happy as landholders learn from the experts

Central and North Burnett Times - - RURAL UPDATE -

AGTRADERS of Biggenden opened their doors to primary producers for an instore field day last Wednesday.

About 20 landholders across the region attended the information day which featured presentations from two key industry leaders.

AgTraders’ Derek Cunningham said those who attended the free field day were pleased they did.

“Everyone said they gained a good deal of information out of it,” Mr Cunningham said.

“They said they felt even though they have been on the land for a while there is always something they can gain from the experts."

Mr Cunningham said there would probably be more field days.

“Itwas a great success and there is a need to get product and stock management information out to landholders,” he said.

Guest speakers on the day were Gary Zerner from AgSolutions and Rob Fry from Selected Seeds.

Mr Zerner covered soil structure, pasture, soil testing, re-mineralising pasture with fertiliser as well as livestock supplements, while Mr Fry focused on pasture species, grasses which do well in the local area, benefits of monitoring pasture condition, planting the appropriate species of pasture and grazing management.
