Feeder steers to $890 at Mur­gon

THE 400 head of cat­tle yarded at Mur­gon on Tues­day sold to strong val­ues with the ma­jor­ity of the num­bers be­ing weaner aged cat­tle.

Cat­tle were drawn from Mt Lar­com, Eidsvold, Mt Perry, Gayn­dah, Kin­garoy and lo­cal ar­eas.

Four tooth santa steers from Manyung sold for $955 at 170c/kg while 483kg two tooth steers sold to feed­lot­ters for $890 at 184c.

Drought­mas­ter steers ac­count A and K Zerner weigh­ing 405kg sold for 185c to re­turn $751.

Two tooth steers from the same ven­dor sold for four cents less per kilo re­turn­ing $728 at 400kg.

The Web­ber fam­ily Stonelands sold 340kg mur­ray grey steers for $634 or 185c. Sim­men­tal weaner steers weigh­ing 230kg ac­count L and T Din­gle sold for $466 at 199c.

Two pens of sim­men­tal cross weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for $517 at 199c and $479 also 199c.

A draft of 64 light con­di­tioned santa and charo­lais weaner steers from Old Pros­ton Sta­tion weigh­ing in at 171kg sold for an av­er­age of 210c to re­turn $360.

The line topped at 219c for $370. Santa heifers weigh­ing 315kg from Mt Lar­com sold for $521 or 165c.

Here­ford cross heifers weigh­ing 345kg sold for $600 at 174c.

Santa weaner heifers ac­count Band J Zill­man, Gayn­dah, sold for 180c to re­turn $427 and 177c for $428.

Most lighter weaner heifers sold be­tween 165c and 175c.
