Feeder steers to $890 at Murgon
THE 400 head of cattle yarded at Murgon on Tuesday sold to strong values with the majority of the numbers being weaner aged cattle.
Cattle were drawn from Mt Larcom, Eidsvold, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Kingaroy and local areas.
Four tooth santa steers from Manyung sold for $955 at 170c/kg while 483kg two tooth steers sold to feedlotters for $890 at 184c.
Droughtmaster steers account A and K Zerner weighing 405kg sold for 185c to return $751.
Two tooth steers from the same vendor sold for four cents less per kilo returning $728 at 400kg.
The Webber family Stonelands sold 340kg murray grey steers for $634 or 185c. Simmental weaner steers weighing 230kg account L and T Dingle sold for $466 at 199c.
Two pens of simmental cross weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for $517 at 199c and $479 also 199c.
A draft of 64 light conditioned santa and charolais weaner steers from Old Proston Station weighing in at 171kg sold for an average of 210c to return $360.
The line topped at 219c for $370. Santa heifers weighing 315kg from Mt Larcom sold for $521 or 165c.
Hereford cross heifers weighing 345kg sold for $600 at 174c.
Santa weaner heifers account Band J Zillman, Gayndah, sold for 180c to return $427 and 177c for $428.
Most lighter weaner heifers sold between 165c and 175c.
